Support & Reporting
The capital-raising process and required disciplines of reporting to multiple stakeholders means AGInvest has a unique set of communication skills and operates sophisticated reporting systems.
Leading up to syndication
Having identified a suitable property and secured it under contract, we begin promoting the investment opportunity, including preparation of draft foundation documents.
We oversee the initial establishment of new farm syndicates, including:
- Sourcing an investor group with common objectives and complementary skills and experience
- Managing the limited partnership and general partner formation process, ensuring agreements are appropriately completed
- Completing due diligence
- Sourcing a range of debt finance proposals for consideration by the investor group
- Co-ordinating initial meetings of the partnership and shareholder meetings
- Sourcing all necessary stock and plant.
The board and support
Investors have input to the foundation documents and are responsible for appointing the directors. We can advise on the skill set and qualities that contribute to forming a successful farm investment board, but the appointment of the board is the investors’ responsibility.
We “service” the board by providing business secretarial services, governance, finance, procurement and strategic overview support.
AGInvest’s investor communications are led by Andrea Yeatman. Andrea’s team is the key contact for investors and directors and provides key secretarial and governance support.
On-line “members only” area
A “members’ only” area website hosts production information, key contacts, reports from the farm manager and Agribusiness Manager, meeting agendas and minutes for each farm business.
Investors are provided with 10-daily milk production reports (actual production versus budget and last year production levels), as well as monthly operational and quarterly financial reports.
Example of a 10-daily milk production report
As an investor, you have regular opportunities to visit your farm (including the annual general meeting) and connect with fellow investors, the farmer, Agribusiness Manager and other AGInvest staff.
There are also AGInvest events, including the two-day bi-annual investor conference and annual governance training day.
